It begins by naturally removing a rubberband from the postcards and putting it on their wrist. (Shhh… this simple and subtle action foreshadows the climax of the trick!) Throughout your conversation, the spectator is given the freedom to follow their intuition and choose one of the postcards.
You then reveal that the poem on the back of the “Perspective” postcard has already predicted the spectator will choose Star. Furthermore, you also reveal the first letter of each poem is exactly S, T, A, R. But the mystery goes deeper: the remaining four postcards are not merely bystanders; when they are brought together, you can clearly see the shape of the four letters S, T, A, R.
The most profound moment comes at the end, when you invite the spectator to imagine that rubber band they’ve been holding as a shooting star, asking them to close their eyes and make a wish. The rubber band magically changed into the shape of a star. In that moment, magic stops being about proving the impossible and turns into giving the audience a meaningful blessing.
