Many card magicians are familiar with the classic Omni Deck ending: the entire deck visually transforms into a solid, transparent block. It’s a beautiful and powerful visual ending – but there’s often a small problem. When the spectator receives the transparent block, they might simply look at it and think, “Okay… it’s a block of glass.”

The Omni Butterfly changes that moment. Instead of ending with a simple transparent block, the transformation becomes a second discovery. The deck disappears. The block appears. And then, as the spectator looks closer… there’s a butterfly inside.

Inspired by the beauty of amber, which preserves life within, Hyde Ren created the Omni Butterfly in collaboration with Bacon Magic. The basic handling remains familiar to anyone who has ever performed an Omni Deck routine. At the climax, the entire deck transforms into a block of crystalline acrylic.

But the spectator’s experience doesn’t end there. Initially, they see the transformation. Then, they notice something inside. A butterfly appears to have been preserved within the crystal. This creates a natural two-step reaction: “The cards have turned into a block,” followed by: “Wait… there’s a butterfly inside.” This second discovery gives the classic Omni Deck ending an entirely new visual dimension.

Use with Your Existing Card Routines

The Omni Butterfly is designed to work with poker-sized playing cards, including standard Bicycle-sized decks. You don’t need to change your existing routine or learn an entirely new effect. Simply use the Omni Butterfly as the final destination of your card transformation.

The original concept was inspired by amber – a natural material famous for preserving insects and other life forms for millions of years. The Omni Butterfly brings this visual idea to the magic: a deck of cards transforms into a transparent block, seemingly preserving a butterfly inside.

If you choose to replace the included plastic butterfly with a real specimen, the natural details of the wings, texture, and posture make each piece unique. No two natural specimens will look exactly alike.
